Heralding the start of autumn, Parham House & Gardens’ annual Harvest Fair is set to take place on Saturday 23rd – Sunday 24th September.
Celebrating the abundance of produce that autumn brings, the Harvest Fair brings together the very best of homemade food, locally grown produce as well as activities for all ages. With cookery demonstrations, working horse cart rides, gun dogs and falconry displays, there is plenty to see and do – including a wide array of stalls selling food, drink and country wares.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to sign-up for guided walks to go deer spotting within the Park and see inside the 18th century Dovecote and Icehouse, both of which are only open for this event. Talks and tours can be booked on the day at the Estate Office.
On Sunday BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey Radio will be hosting the popular gardening show “Dig It”, with hosts Joe Talbot, Jim Buttress and Parham’s Head Gardener Tom Brown live from the Harvest Fair from 9:00am. Visitors will be available to engage with the show from 10:30am – 12 noon, whilst the event is open.
Parham House is one of the country’s finest Elizabethan houses, where visitors can discover a rare and precious collection of paintings, furniture and needlework. Over the Harvest Fair weekend there will be talks and additional small ‘Estate’ exhibits on display in several of the rooms.
The spectacular gardens consist of beautiful Pleasure Grounds and a four-acre Walled Garden featuring herbaceous borders, a rose garden, herb garden and a 1920s Wendy House.
Ticket price includes access to the House, Gardens and the Harvest Fair activities. There is no additional charge to take part in the event activities.
Dogs are welcome on leads in the outdoor areas of the event.
