Arrival & Car Park Facilities
On normal open days, Blue Badge holders can park adjacent to the House in the designated Disabled Car Park.
Wheelchair users are able to access the ground floor rooms of the House via a private family door. Please arrange at the Ticket Desk on arrival to gain access.
The three ground floor rooms which are accessible to wheelchair users are the Great Hall, the Great Parlour and the Saloon, via two separate ramps.
There is no wheelchair access to the first and second floors, however the House has wide staircases which are fitted with handrails on both sides of the staircase.
Wheelchairs & Mobility Scooters
Because of the age and fragility of the flooring, we are not able to admit powered/battery wheelchairs into the House. Wherever possible we would ask visitors to use manual wheelchairs, and we have a number available for use on request, free of charge.
There is reasonable accessibility in and around the gardens, however some of the paths are uneven in places and can become unsuitable for wheelchair users during wet weather.
Big Kitchen Restaurant
Access to the Big Kitchen for lunches and teas is by one very shallow step which is accessible to wheelchair users.
Access to the Gift shop is by one shallow step which is accessible to wheelchair users.
Disabled toilets are located in Fountain Court. Access is with the use of a RADAR key, available at the Entrance Desk and Big Kitchen upon request.
Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas, including the House.
