Information for Visitors with Disabilities
Accompanying carers are always admitted free of charge.
Car Parking
On arrival visitors with disabilities are directed to a special grass car parking area, which is as close to the house and gardens as possible.
Access to House
Wheelchair users are able to visit the ground floor rooms of the house via a private family door. Please arrange at the ticket desk on arrival to gain access.
The three ground floor rooms which are accessible to wheelchair users are the Great Hall, the Great Parlour and the Saloon, via two separate ramps.
A recorded tour tape of the whole house is available free for wheelchair users in the Great Hall.
We would prefer not to admit power/battery wheelchairs to the house. It is normally possible to transfer to one of our wheelchairs.
Gardens
There is good access to the gardens, although the paths can become a bit soft for wheelchair users during wet weather.
Big Kitchen
Access to the Big Kitchen for lunches and teas is by one very shallow step which is accessible by wheelchair users.
Gift Shop
Access is by one shallow step which is accessible by wheelchair users.
Lavatories
An adapted lavatory is in Fountain Court. Access is with a RADAR key.
