Parham’s Head Gardener joins RHS Committee

11th July 2018

We’re very proud that Tom Brown, Head Gardener at Parham, has been invited onto the RHS Herbaceous Plant Committee this year. The Herbaceous Plant Committee has a huge remit, covering hardy herbaceous perennials including chrysanthemums, carnations, pinks, delphiniums and grasses. All members of the committee give their time and expertise voluntarily and we’re delighted that Tom’s knowledge and experience have been recognised in this way.

As well as giving talks, working with gardening clubs and promoting both gardening and careers in horticulture, another key aspect of the committee’s work is in proposing RHS trials and contributing to forums. Given the expertise and creativity Tom applies to the planting trials here at Parham, we’re sure that his input on this subject will be greatly valued by the RHS community.

Tom has also been invited to join the RHS Show Judges in assessing floral marquees. Following a summer of training, he is starting out on his first season as a qualified judge and has already judged at Chatsworth and Malvern this year.

We’re very proud of Tom’s achievements and also consider ourselves lucky that the results of his hard work and extensive knowledge can be seen throughout the gardens at Parham.
